Become a Schools of Hope Tutor in Madison elementary schools!

We are no longer placing tutors for the 2023-2024 school year.
Note: Our Spanish application remains available because we are still recruiting Spanish-speaking tutors.

If you are interested in volunteering with our program during the 2024-2025 school year, please check back for our new application in August 2024. If you’d like to get a head start on the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) requirements to volunteer next year, please complete steps 2-4 below.

  1. Complete our application:
  2. Register to become a volunteer with MMSD. 
    • This includes a background check
  3. Complete required MMSD volunteer training.
    • This includes 2 online components: 
      • Building & Student Safety
      • Volunteer Onboarding
  4. Complete MMSD’s training for literacy tutors, K-12 Literacy Tutoring: A Crash Course in the Science of Reading.
