Schools of Hope in Madison
Become a Schools of Hope Tutor in Madison elementary schools!
FALL 2022 UPDATE:
Hello Schools of Hope Volunteers, we hope you had a lovely summer! As you may know, the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) begins instruction for the 2022-2023 school year this week. Teachers and staff need a few weeks to get settled and organized before they can welcome tutors into their classrooms, so we hope to start placing tutors in October.
Additionally, our Schools of Hope AmeriCorps team is smaller than expected so far this year. As a result, we will be placing a limited number of volunteers at a limited number of schools. As our AmeriCorps team grows, we will be able to place more volunteers at more schools. If you or anyone you know is interested in becoming an AmeriCorps member to serve as a Literacy Tutor/Tutor Coordinator, please contact Emily Greene (firstname.lastname@example.org) More information about becoming an AmeriCorps member can be found on the positions page of our website.
If you are interested in volunteering this fall there are several steps you need to take to become a fully approved tutor with our program and MMSD:
2022-2023 Tutor Application
- Complete the online Schools of Hope Tutor Application
- Register to become a volunteer with MMSD (this includes a background check).
- Complete three online required MMSD trainings:
- Leaning Forward Together
- COVID-19 Health and Safety
- Building Safety Protocols

Thank you for your continued support of our program and the students in our community! Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. We hope to see you soon!
