Starting in the 2026–27 school year, the Madison Metropolitan School District and United Way of Dane County are transitioning from their long-standing Elementary Schools of Hope and high school Achievement Connections tutoring programs due to reduced federal support, with student support continuing by other means.

Schools of Hope AmeriCorps members receive student loan deferment, a living allowance, professional training and, for full-time members, health insurance. After you complete your term of service, you will also receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award to help pay for college, graduate school, or vocational training or to repay student loans.
